SBIOA Educational Trust

SBIOA(CC) is a pioneer Trade Union Movement which was the first as a non bargaining activity to establish Educational Institutions. In 1979 SBIOA Educational Trust was registered under Societies Act as a Charitable Trust and school started in Chennai. The foundation stone was laid by the then Chairman of SBI Shri PCD Nambiar. The first school started from 6th June 1979 to synchronize with International Year of Child. Now it has grown to 9 schools, 3 in Chennai, 2 each in Trichy and Madurai, 1 in Coimbatore and Ernakulam. One School each in Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and the School in Ernakulam are affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. The others are affiliated to TN Matriculation Board. Today there are over 286000 Children studying in all the nine schools and employs 1600 teaching and non teaching staff. The Pre school “SBOA Tiny Tyros” functioning in Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Ernakulam.

All the Schools are very reputed and set a bench mark in the field of academics, cultural, sports for other schools to follow. Our schools are renowned not only in India but also abroad.

The Schools were started for the benefit of our members children as our members are frequently transferred. Our members’ children are given fee concession and immediate admission in our schools, besides special mentoring.

MANAGEMENT

The State Bank of India Officers’ Association [Chennai Circle] is the sole collective bargaining body of Six thousand two hundred and fifty Officers working in the State Bank of India offices and branches in the State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Pondicherry. Its Primary objective is to unite all Officers working in the circle for collective bargaining purposes and to secure for its members better service and fair working conditions. It is also committed to redressing their grievances and improving the quality of life of its members, economically, socially and culturally. It was registered on August 14th, 1965 as ‘State Bank of India Officers’ Association [Madras Circle]’ under the Trade Union Act.

As part of its non-bargaining activity, the SBIOA [Chennai Circle] sponsored the State Bank Of India Officers’ Association Educational Trust in the year 1978 and was inaugurated on the 6th June 1979 to synchronize with International Year of the Child. The SBIOA Educational Trust was registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, to establish and manage educational institutions for the benefit of the members’ children as well as deserving students irrespective of caste, colour or creed. The first project of the SBIOA Educational Trust was the school which was started in June 1979 at Anna Nagar Western Extension, Chennai in a compact area of 6.2 acres and at the same time i.e., 1979 the Trust had taken over the primary school in Madurai for developing it into a High School.

At present, the Trust runs five schools at Chennai and two each in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore and one in Kochi and one in Salem. There are about 24,600 children studying in all thirteen schools. Also, the Trust has provided employment opportunities to nearly 1500 teaching and non-teaching staff in all thirteen schools. All the schools under the Management of the Trust are run efficiently providing cent percent results in Public Examination year after year. In order to ensure continuous professional development of our teachers, the Trust has an academy viz. SBIOA Higher Academy of Research and Professional Enhancement (SHARPEN)
